Modified Bitumen for Commercial Buildings
Modified Bitumen Roofs (MBR) are an alternative type of flat roofing system commonly used in commercial and industrial buildings across the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex. Referred to as “torch-down,” modified bitumen is a favored choice among business owners in Dallas due to its resilient surface. It is particularly suitable for flat roofs and low-slope roofing systems. These roofs are composed of fiberglass-based asphalt sheets and are installed in multiple layers, resulting in a long-lasting and robust surface. Installation methods include torch-application, “hot-mopping” similar to BUR, utilization of “cold-process” adhesives, or self-adhered application.
